Abstract

1403435 Reactive metallized monoazo dyes SANDOZ Ltd 14 Aug 1972 [16 Aug 1971] 37786/72 Heading C4P Novel dyes of formula in which one of X 1 and X 2 is SO 3 H and the other is -NHR 3 where R 3 is a substituted heterocyclic radical attached directly or through -CO- or -CH 2 CH 2 CO- (CO is attached to N) to the amino group, which radical is substituted by at least one halogen atom cleavable as an anion and is optionally further substituted; Y is OCH 3 , OH 3 , OC 2 H 5 or -OC 2 H 4 OCH 3 ; n is 2 or 3; Z is H, CH 3 or OCH3; and A is a naphthalene radical with the -N=N- link and O-atom in ortho position to each other and which may contain an amino or hydroxyl group; are prepared by reacting a compound of formula where one of Q 1 and Q 2 is SO 3 H and the other in NH2 with a compound R 3 -W where W is a leaving group which is split off in condensation with a primary amino group. The dyes give blue shades on natural or regenerated cellulose fibre materials. Dyestuffs of the Formula (II) above are prepared by coupling diazotized amines of the formula wherein one of R 1 and R 2 is SO 3 H and the other is acylamino with optionally sulphomethylated amines of the formula wherein the alkyl group has 1-4 carbon atoms, cleaving a sulphomethyl group present, diazotizing the amino monoazo compound formed, coupling with an appropriate hydroxynaphthalene sulphonic acid, splitting off the acyl group in the resulting disazo compound and coppering.
