Abstract
518,208. Conduits; junction-boxes. HOLLANDER, J. M. Jan. 24, 1939, No. 2388. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] A metallic conduit for electric conductors comprises open channel body sections and an intermediate junction-box, the body sections and detachable cover plates therefor each having end flanges, and the junction-box having at the ends or sides of its body flanges bolted &c. to the adjacent body sections and also having a detachable cover or other detachable part with flanges or surfaces to which the end flanges of the cover plates are bolted &c., the arrangement being such that a completely open trough system may be obtained. In Figs. 1 and 6, conduit sections 1, with U-shaped flanged yokes 6 and cover plates 2 with transverse angle bars 10 as in Specification 517,209, are connected by an elbow junction-box 16 having at its ends flanges 18, 19, adapted to be bolted to the yokes 6, and provided with a detachable cover plate 21 with flanges 22 adapted to be bolted to the angle bars 10. In Figs. 9 and 11, a rectangular junctionbox comprises a base 26 with flanges 28 and corner pillars 27 adapted to be bolted to the yokes 6, and a cover 30 secured by screws 29 to the pillars 27 and provided with flanges 31 adapted to be bolted to the angle bars 10. Any of the apertures of the junction-box may be closed by a plate 32. When the sections 1 are secured to an elbow junction-box 16 with their cover plates 2 arranged as in Fig. 13, the corner pillar 17a is removably attached to the junction box by screws.
