Abstract

517,955. Vehicle wheels., DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and WHALE, G. H. Aug. 19, 1938, No. 24419. [Class 144 (ii)] Relates to a hub-cap or wheel-covering disc 10 having a flanged edge 13 adapted to be sprung over a series of projections on the wheel, as described in Specification 456,866, and consists in providing the projections 6 with stems 7 which are secured atright angles to radial seats on the wheel body or rim. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the recessed wheelcentre is stiffened by depressions 4, one of which is formed with a stepped portion 4a providing a radial seat 5 for one of the studs 6. Further seats 8 are provided by the radial walls of shallow depressions 9 between the depressions 4. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the seats 5 are provided by small recessed portions 11 of the wheel disc. The studs 6 may be secured to the flange 14, or to the outer wall of the well-base of the rim.
