Abstract

463,319. Vehicle wheels. FLEURY, R. DE. Oct. 1, 1935, Nos. 27077 and 27078. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1934 and Dec. 7,.1934. [Class 144 (i)] A vehicle wheel capable of manufacture by moulding, forging, pressing or swaging, and adapted to be fitted with a detachable rim, has a dish-shaped hub 20, Figs. 1, 2, open towards the exterior of the wheel, a torusshaped wall portion 21 extending radially outwardly from the hub and open towards the interior of the wheel, and ribs 22 extending from the periphery of the hub and co-operating with the torus-shaped wall to form a series of juxtaposed recesses. Spokes 4, spring from the wall 21, and are preferably of U-shaped section and open towards the interior of the wheel. End flanges 30 on the spokes provide for attachment of the wheel rim. Additional radial ribs extending from the end flanges 30 to the periphery of the hub may be provided. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, in which the central plane of the rim is at a considerable distance from the radially extending hubflange, the torus-shaped wall 21 extends to the rim-securing flanges 30, spokes being simulated by undulations in the disc portion 4 of the wheel. Other modifications are also described in which the difference between the larger diameter of the hub and that of the flanges 30 is small.
