Abstract

517,691. Fluid-pressure brakes. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd. Aug. 4, 1938, No. 23080. Convention date, Aug. 4, 1937. [Class 103 (i)] A valve is interposed between the triple valve connected to a conduit d and the brake cylinder connected to a conduit c, which is controlled by a valve 3 and a piston 2 controlled by an electromagnetic valve 8 energized in accordance with the speed of the vehicle so that the brakirig pressure is reduced in accordance with the reductions in speed. At a predetermined low speed valves 6, 7 rise and the valve 6 connects the chamber e below the piston 2.to atmosphere whereupon the pressure above the piston 2 depresses it closing the valve. 3 and opening the valve 4 to connect the brake cylinder.to the chamber e and the atmosphere. The brake cylinder is thereupon exhausted until the reduced pressure above the piston is balanced by the spring 5. The valve is cut out by a cock i.
