Abstract
517,344. Vehicle couplings. GALE, W. E., and GALE, J. R. July 25, 1938, No. 22010. [Class 103 (v)] A car or lorry chassis is converted for horse or tractor draught by means of a draw-bar 3 pivoted at 8 to oscillate in a rectangular frame fixed to the underside of the vehicle and to the fixed axle B. The frame comprises upper and lower transverse members 2 spaced by end blocks 1 and upper and lower members 9 spaced by end blocks 9a. The draw-bar 3 passes between the members 2'and is pivoted thereto whilst the tail 3a of the draw-bar is guided beween the bars 9. The bars 9 and tail 3a may be faced with wear strips. The track rod 13 is pivoted to the tail at 12 to turn the wheels simultaneously with the draw-bar. The draw-bar is provided with draught bars 5 spaced apart by a transverse member 14 attached to the end of the bar 3.
