Abstract
516,143. Looms; selvedges forming and protecting. TEFAG TEXTIL-FINANZ AKT.-GES. June 21, 1938, No. 18463. Convention date, July 2, 1937. [Class 142 (ii)] Selvedgeforming mechanism comprises a gripper 7 for the transferring a weft end 6 from a shuttle to a selvedge needle or the like 8, means for moving the gripper rearwardly after the beat-up and before the transfer to tension the weft end and means whereby the tensioning movement of the gripper can be adjusted to give the tucked-in end a determined length. As shown, the gripper 7 and its supporting rod 37 are reciprocated by a lever 38 under control of a cam 14 which imparts a main movement to the lever through a cam roller 39 and an auxiliary tensioning movement through a lever 52 that is connected by a link 49 to the movable pivot 48 of the lever 38. The link 49 is supported by a block 55 on a rod 54 that is adjustable to vary the rearward tensioning movement of the gripper. During the transfer the gripper and the,rod 37 are rocked about a pivot 41 by the cam 14. The selvedge needle 8 is moved transversely and longitudinally of the fabric by cams 16, 15, Fig. 5, the pivot of the lever co-operating the cam 15 being adjustable.
