Abstract
515,801. Cathode-ray tubes. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and JONES, V. A. June 13, 1938, No. 17509. [Class 39 (i)] In order to remove " tilt and bend " effects in a television device comprising a tube having a mosaic screen scanned by a cathode-ray and a signal electrode, an auxiliary photoelectric member is provided which is illuminated by light signals produced, for example, by means such as those described in Specification 462,110 and the electrons emitted employed to modify the signals derived from the signal electrode. In the arrangement shown a photo-electric mosaic screen 2, on which the image to be transmitted is focussed and which is scanned by a cathode-ray is backed by a signal plate 3 with a photo-electric surface. This surface is illuminated from a source 5, such as fluorescent screen bombarded by a grid controlled stream of electrons controlled by suitable signals, and the electrons emitted are collected by an electrode 7 connected to the signal electrode 3 through the load resistance 9. The mosaic 2 may consist merely of conducting elements and an electron image derived from a continuous photo-electric surface on which the image to be transmitted is projected or focussed on it. The correcting signals may be applied to an electrode of an electron multiplier made to amplify the signals.
