Abstract
514,766. Diffusion pumps. EASTMAN KODAK CO. May 14, 1938, No. 22257/39. Convention date, May 18, 1937. Divided out of 514,749. [Class 71] In a cascade diffusion pump for the production of high vacua of the kind, which are operated by means of a mixed organic fluid, the fluid from one stage is employed to heat the throat or conduit of a jet in another stage. In the form shown the final jet of vapour of the lowest vapour pressure issues from an umbrella type of nozzle 72 supplied from a boiler by a compartment C having vertical walls 91, 92 joined to a conduit 88 with a flared end 89. The compartment C is surrounded by a compartment D associated with a jet 28 from which issues jets of vapour of a higher vapour pressure than the vapour from compartment C. The heat from compartment D prevents the vapours of low vapour pressure from condensing before reaching the nozzle 72.
