Abstract

513,632. Induction motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 2, 1938, No. 6594. Convention date, March 2, 1937. [Class 35] In a reversible induction motor having a pair of opposed cross field windings in addition to the main primary winding a circuit comprising inductance and capacity in series is connected to one of the cross field windings. In the form shown, cross field winding 7 is energized from winding 10 in transformer relationship with the main winding 6 and the opposing winding 8 is connected across the supply 3 in series with. the winding 10 and capacity-inductance 2. Up to a certain voltage winding 7 is most effective and the motor runs in one direction but when the circuit 2 becomes resonant due to an increase in voltage, winding 8 overpowers winding 7 and reverses the motor.
