Abstract

513,508. Distilling liquids. USINES DE MELLE. April 12, 1938, No. 11251. Convention date, April 16, 1937. [Class 32] [Also in Group IV] Dilute solutions of monoalkylolamines are concentrated by using the vapours emitted during the concentration of one portion to concentrate the succeeding portion, after their pressure and temperature have been increased by adiabatic compression, conveniently in a turbo-compressor, to such an extent that they condense at 5-10‹C. above their normal boiling point. The alkylolamine solution, prepared in B and freed from ammonia in C and D, flows to the heat exchanger E, where it is concentrated up to 10-20 per cent. by heating at 102-103‹C. The resulting vapour is heated to 105‹C. and compressed in the turbo-compressor PT, and passed back to E, along with additional steam, if necessary, to heat the solution. The concentrated solution passes to F where it is rectified, partly by the exhaust steam of the turbine.
