Abstract
197,341. BÚthune, G. de. May 8, 1922, [Convention date]. Rectifiers.-The vapours are passed in succession through a series of concentric chambers from an inlet 5<1>, Fig. 1, through outlets 11 from the first chamber 5, outlets 12 from the second chamber 6, and outlets 13 from the third chamber 7 which may be surrounded by a casing kept under reduced pressure. One or more of the chambers may be provided with a heating or cooling jacket to maintain a constant temperature. The temperature and pressure of the vapours become progressively lower in each chamber. The products condensed in the chambers are withdrawn through separate outlets 14, 15, 16. The apparatus may consist of a series of main concentric chambers 17, 18, 19, Fig. 4, the inner one of which contains concentric chambers 22, 23 and the outer ones contain a number of elements 27 each constituted bv concentric chambers arranged so that the vapours entering the elements bubble through the condensate formed therein. The elements mav be arranged so that the vapours pass through all of them in succession. The condensates formed in the main chambers are collected separately.
