Abstract

209,771. Fuchs, K. Jan. 13, 1923, [Convention date]. Rectifiers. - The fractional condensation of mineral oil &c. vapours is effected by passage through a series of cooled dephlegmators in which condensate obtained in each dephlegmator is reheated by the incoming vapours. The dephlegmator consists of a vertical casing a, divided by horizontal plates c, d to form a chamber b into which vapours are fed from an inlet e. The vapours rise through tubes f, the upper ends of which are slotted and covered by perforated caps, and after passage over tubes v through which cooling-medium is circulated pass to an outlet s. Condensate falls through packing r down an inclined plate p and on to the plate d across which it passes in a tortuous path round baffles g. Steam may be injected into the condensate through a perforated pipe i. The condensate passes down a pipe k to the chamber l and to an outlet m.
