Abstract
513,147. Mixing fluids in flow. PYRENE CO., Ltd. Oct. 3, 1938. No. 28710. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1937. [Class 86] [Also in Group XXI] Means for feeding a foam-stabilizing solution from a closed container into a water stream, particularly for making air foam, by using a pressure differential at two points in the stream, comprises a solution container 14 the cover 12 of which carries a Venturi-section tube 29 having inlet and discharge connections 32, 29b for water under pressure. The upper end,of the container is connected by a passage 33, 34 to a point up-stream of the Venturi constriction, and the lower end of the container is connected by a tube 40 to the constriction. The passage 34 includes a baffle device 36, 38 which causes the water to enter the container without turbulence, so that it does not mix substantially with the solution. The container has a charging cap 23 with a vent cock 27, and a discharge valve 15 controlled by a rod 18. If the solution is lighter than water, the connections to the Venturi are reversed. Further, the passage 33 may be connected down-stream of the constriction.
