513,101. Vehicle couplings and draw-gear. ALEXANDER, D. F. May 23, 1938, No. 15272. [Class 103 (v)] A coupling or towing-connection between vehicles comprises a pair of hollow rods 4 slidably mounted in an outer sleeve 1 against the action of springs 8, 9 which respectively absorb the draught and buffing shocks, the free ends of the rods. being adapted for attachment to suitable parts of the vehicle. As shown, the rods 4 are guided upon an inner tubular member 6, which is secured to the sleeve 1 by a pin 7, while the springs 8, 9 are located between collars 5 on the inner ends of the rods and screw-plugs 2 closing the end of the sleeve 1 and washers 10 abutting against the pin 7. If desired, detachable extension-pieces may be fixed by bolts 11 to the rods 4. A disc designed to call the attention of pedestrians to the coupling may be mounted on the pin 7.
