Abstract

1393310 Supporting and centering apparatus for rail vehicle couplings GERMANY MINISTER OF TRANSPORT 15 Nov 1972 52697/72 Heading B7T Supporting and centering apparatus adapted to bear against a railway coupling arm by an upper ball and socket joint and to be supported by the vehicle frame by a transversely spaced pair of bolts 5 comprises an outer tandem spring unit 9, 10 extending between a base 13 supporting a tube 6 and a flange 17 of a cylinder 7 slidable within tube 6, and an inner tandem spring unit 26 located within a guide sleeve 16, slidable in cylinder 7, and extending between an upper member 11 and a disc 31 having a rod 14 connected therewith which extends through the base of cylinder 7, there being a sealing element 1 with a wear resisting ring 12 located between the elements 9, 10 of the outer spring unit and which engages the inner surface of a cylindrical cover 2, said cover being held in position by member 11. The lower end of rod 14 is enlarged in width at 8 and a bar 3 extends therethrough, the bar being fixed to a plate 21 in which bolts 5 are located. A safety element 25 prevents excessive extension of the mechanism when unloaded.
