Abstract
316,351. Saccaggio, P. C. April 27, 1928. Divided on 301,339, [Class 79 (iii), Motor vehicles, Arrangement &c. of parts of]. Couplings, non-automatic; drawgear.-In a coupling device for railway vehicles of the kind comprising a rigid rod or draw-bar pivotally connected to the ends of adjacent vehicles, the rigid or substantially rigid rod 1, 1a is vertically pivoted .at its ends to the vehicle frames or bogies at points or axes arranged as near as possible to the swivel axes of the bogies, the coupling being particularly adapted for use with the long coaches of railway trains as described in Specification 301,339, [Class 79 (iii), Motor vehicles, Arrangement &c. of parts of]. In the construction shown the coupling-rod is formed in two parts 1, 1a connected by a union 4, and each part has fitted at its inner end a hollow sleeve 5 accommodating two sets of rubber cushions or springs 9, 10 between which is disposed the flange 11 of a sleeve 12 keyed to a rod 7, the latter rod being slidable in an extension 6 of the sleeve 5 and being pivoted at 2 to the bogie frame or, as shown, to a cross-bar 3 connected to the vehicle underframe.
