Couplings, non - automatic.-A compound rail or like vehicle is made up of a propelling vehicle and other vehicles on each side of it, the latter resting with their near ends upon the under frame of the former. The coupling between the propelling vehicle and the others comprises partspherical plates 29, 31, a flat plate 33, a buffer 34 held in place by a ring 35 carried by brackets 36 on a cross-member 37, and a pin 40. Near each end of the member 37 is mounted a housing containing a buffer, constituting a resilient side bearer.
