Abstract

204,181. Spencer, A. Aug. 1, 1922. Combined buffer and draw-gear.-In automatic couplings of the central buffer type comprising a central coupling head formed in one with or rigidly connected to a draw-bar the outer end' of the draw-rod 1 rests upon a transverse bar 12 the ends 11 of which are supported by a pair of suspension links 9 located one at each side of the draw-rod; trunnion pins 8 project from the upper ends of the suspension links 9 and rest on supports or seats 7 fixed to the vehicle headstock and the transverse bar 12 which supports the drawrod has bifurcated ends which rest on similar trunnion pins 10 projecting from the lower ends of the suspension links 9. The transverse bar 12 is provided with a seat 13 for the draw-rod 1. To the draw-rod 1 is pivoted a transverse bar to the ends of which the combined buffing and draught springs 4 are connected by rods 17.
