[Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A piston made of aluminium or an aluminium alloy is coated with magnesium by electrodeposition, the coating is then heated to effect diffusion and the surface layer is then anodized to produce an amorphous layer of complex aluminium/magnesium oxide. The coating remains amorphous and non-abrasive during working.
