Abstract
458,862. Preventing formation of ice on aircraft. HORST, H. VAN DER, 22, Alexanderlaan, Hilversum, Holland. June 26, 1935, No. 18248. [Class 4] The formation of ice on aircraft is prevented by applying to the exposed surfaces a polished coating of chromium. The coating may be electrolytically deposited directly on to the surface or may be applied in the form of a sheath of nickel or other metal polished and coated with chromium. The coating may be on the leading edges only and have a thickness of 0À001 inches or of 0À001 to 0À003 inches for a sheath of chromium-plated metal.
