512,481. Imitation fires. BERRY, H. H., and PAINTON, C. A. March 2, 1938, No. 6617. [Class 126] . A flicker device for producing upwardly rising flame and smoke effects in electric fires comprises a disc-type spinner 1 mounted above a lamp bulb and having involutely curved slots 8 at the spaced edges of vanes 6 twisted to cause ascending air currents to rotate the spinner clockwise, a mask 2 having slots 9 radiating from the spinner axis, and a screen 3 which may be treated tosimulate fuel. Alternatively the spinner slots may be straight and tangential to a small circle centred on its axis. The vanes 6 may have downwardly bent rims.
