Abstract
325,634. Anns, H. F. Dec. 20, 1928. Shades; mounting shades on electric lamp bulbs.-A suspended electric lamp bulb 3 is fitted with a single shade 1 of bowl form having a central aperture 2 and connected by elastic members 6 to a ring 7 adapted to rest on the enlarged part of the bulb or on the bulb cap. The shade may be of inverted conical form and may be made of parchment, paper, glass, or other material, whilst the aperture is of such a size as will allow the bulb to project a short distance therethrough but will not allow it to pass completely therethrough. The elastic members may comprise short spiral springs and may be attached directly to the shade, to a metal ring 4 surrounding the aperture, or to the radial members 5 of the framework upon which the shade is built. The bulb may be positioned a short distance away from the apex of the shade by means of a ring 8, Fig. 3, engaging the end of the bulb and mounted on struts 9 carried bv the radial members 5, the elastic members 6 being connected at one, end to the ring 7 and at the other end to the ring 8 or to the radial members 5.
