Chimneys; securing chimneys to galleries; chimney galleries.-In a lamp chimney the glass body part 10, which is preferably of truncated conical shape, is held between a surmounted metal part 14 and a metal mounting surrounding the burner by means of rings 8, 12 carrying heat-insulating packings 9, 11, which may be of asbestos or of fine bronze or other metallic webbing. The rings 8, 12 are carried by the flange parts 4, 15 of steel sleeves 5, 13 connected by short riveted rods 7, 17 to sleeves 6, 16 which are secured together by rods 18 having nuts 19, 22 at their ends and passing through wide apertures 20, 21 in the parts 4, 15. Secured between the ring 8 and the flange 4 is the flange 3 of an elastic socket 2 by means of which the chimney is mounted on the burner cone 1, the flange 3 bearing against a rim 23 whilst the sleeve 5, which is perforated as at 5<1>, bears against a rim 24, the whole being fixed in position by means of a milled-headed screw 25 screwed into the sleeve 5 and bearing against the burner. The annular partition 9<a> is supported by upright or inwardly inclined rods 16a connected either with a ring 17<a> secured between the socket 2 and the ring 8, as shown in Fig. 3, or by means of lugs 28 on the ring 8, as shown in Fig. 6, or by means of three flexible projections 30 having rounded heads 31 bearing against the burner cone 1 so as to ensure correct centering of the partition 9<a> with respect to the flame from the wick, as shown in Fig. 8. When the last arrangement is used, and in order to prevent air passing between the partition 9<a> and the glass 10, a cylindrical or truncated conicalshaped transparent element 32 of mica or glass having at its ends metallic rings 33, 34 is arranged between the partition 9<a> and the packing 9. Instead of the ring 33, a ring 35, Fig. 10, may be secured to the top of the element 32 to hide the partition 9<a>, and the element 32 may be reinforced by a metallic trellis 36 of large mesh either inside or outside or embedded in the glass itself.
