Shades.-An electric-lamp shade consists of a succession of uniformly shaped and spaced opaque reflecting rings a, b, Fig. 1, or parts of rings a, b, Fig. 5, of truncated conical or pyramidal form connected to one another and spaced apart by independent connecting-devices, such as wires c, so that light is projected forwardly and through the spaces between the rings. The first ring a of the series has its inner end lying about the bayonet joint of the lamp. The connecting-means may consist of a bracket f, Fig. 7, locked on the lamp holder by a ring nut g, and provided with an extension f<1> soldered to the inner end of one of the rings b and two or three extensions f<2> soldered to the outer ends cf all the rings. Other connecting- means described include slotted bars, plates cut and stamped with concave and convex bearings strung on wires between the rings, or tubes or beads strung on wires between the rings. A further modification consists of a clip m, Fig. 14, of which three or more are used between adjacent rings, one extremity m<1> being bent over the upper edge of one ring and the other extremity m bent over the lower edge of the ring below. The ring elements may be hinged or pivotally connected to the supports, or the supports pivoted to allow re. lative adjustment of the rings.
