Abstract

[Class 58] A machine for cracking, hulling and husking seeds, fruit, nuts and grain of the type in which a rotating drum co-operates with stationary breasts is provided with two or more independently adjustable breast plates 15 having detachable resilient faces and arranged consecutively to each other. The seeds are fed from a hopper 2 into a casing 7 falling on the drum 8, the periphery of which is formed with flutings 13, and being carried under the hinged breast plates 15 which are provided with resilient surfaces 141, 14", 14<111>, The breast plates, are adjusted about their hinges 16 by hand nuts 22, bearing against bridge pieces 18, and screwed on bolts 20 pivoted in the breast plates. A feed roller is arranged in the hopper 2 and a blast of air from a fan 5 removes shells and husks through a shoot 3, any kernels carried up the shoot by the blast engage an adjustable shutter 34 falling back through an opening 32.
