Abstract

681,693. Beater mills; sifting apparatus. SNELL, C. E. July 31, 1951 [June 11, 1951], No. 13785/51. Classes 59 and 117 [Also in Group VI] Dried leaf tea is broken and separated from the stalk by a machine having a number of beaters rotating within a perforated cylinder. The beaters 10 are pivoted on the rotor 9 so as to fly out by centrifugal force when the rotor is rotated by a belt drive 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Below the rotor is a semicylindrical perforated metal screen 16 through which the broken leaf falls to a shoot below. A semi-cylindrical hood is pivoted above the rotor to complete the enclosure, the hood being provided with a hopper and a magnetic separator. A fan 23 extracts dust through holes 22 in the end plate of the milling cylinder, the dust being collected in a bag 26.
