Abstract

27,410. Fuster, G. Dec. 6. Roller mills.-In triturating palm seeds &c. and separating the crushed kernels from the particles of husks or shells, the seeds are crushed in a series of superposed roller mills B, C, D, having one roller of each pair driven at about three times the speed of the other roller. The rollers have channelled or roughened surfaces, are adjustable by means of screws H, and are driven by spur and chain gearing E, G. The crushed kernels are afterwards separated from the particles of husks by mechanical agitation in a stationary vessel containing a saturated solution of salt and water.
