Abstract
511,873. Screw sockets. JOHNS & CO., Ltd., E., and CORN, E. R. March 10, 1938, No. 7454. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group I] Means for attaching an earthenware or like cistern to a horizontal support 2, such as the rear platform of a closet basin, comprise a downwardly-opening internally-threaded socket member 4 having a threaded shank 6 and head 5, which is secured liquid-tight in an aperture 10 in the bottom 11 of the cistern by a nut 15 or other clamping means engaging the threaded shank. The joint is rendered liquid-tight by rubber or like washers 9, 13. The socket, which may be supplied ready-fitted wih the cistern, is engaged by a holding-down bolt 17. The bottom of the cistern, or the support 2, may be recessed to receive the head of the socket and allow the cistern to abut the surface of the support.
