Application filed April 10,
My invention relates to toilet fixture supports and particularly to improvements inthe construction .disclosedin my prior application for water closet supports,-Serial No. 165,923, allowed December 19, 1927.
An object of the invention is. to provide a mounting for toiletfixtures such as sinks,
-' wash-stands, water closets, urinals',- etc,
which is of simple construction, may he quickly and readily installed, and which is a general refinement of my allowedapplication above identified.
Further the invention provides a toilet fixture mounting embodying a support for the flush valve sleeve which is carried byand supported directly from the wall plate, also embodying a support 18 for flush water supply sleeve.
With the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, constructions and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view partly in side elevation and partly in section of my improved toilet fixture mounting in operative position to support the fixture, and showingconnection for'lead waste pipe;
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line 22 of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a rear elevation of the wall plate and associated flush valve sleeve support;
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view of the device and connection for iron pipe; and
Figure 5 is a front elevation of the'wall plate.
Referring to the invention in detail a wall plate 5, cruciform in configuration and having a central opening 6, is provided, and is adapted to be supported in a vertical plane against or in a wall by a vertically adjustable threaded rod 6 rising from a base pedestal 7 and engaging a recess 8' in the lower end'oi' the lower leg of the wall plate. A pipe coupling 8 is received in the central opening and projects beyond both faces thereof and has its inner end threadedly or solderedly engaged with a conventional waste pipe 9. The forward end of the coupling is reduced to afiord an annular shoulder 10 flush with the outer face of the wall plate, and receives an inte riorly threaded clamping nut 11 which is of a greater diameter than the coupling and less. serial No. 268,916.
engages-the wall plate to hold it in relative to thecoupling. Toconnect the'wall plate with a toilet fin; ture 12, a plurality of bolts 13 passthrough the wall plate and base of the toilet fixture position 1 and support the latter in a position where a circular recess 12, surrounding the outlet opening in the fixture, receives the forward end of the coupling. The bolts 13 are. provided with heads 14: whose inner faces. are rounded, as at 15, and are adapted for universal adjustment in rounded recesses 16'. in
theinner. faces of the legs of the wall plate.
The legs of the wall plate are also provided with transverse slots 17 communicating with the rounded recesses and receive the shanks of the bolts. H i I 'A circular opening 18 is provided in the uppermost leg of the wall plate for the recep tion of a horizontally disposed sleeve 19,passing transversely through a building wall, as illustrated in Figure 1, and through which the flush water supply pipe 20 of a conventional flush valve 21 for the toilet fixture passes. A set screw 22 passing transversely through this leg of the wall plate projects into the circular opening 18 and engages the sleeve 19 to retain the latter against longitudinal displacement. In order to centralize the wall plate on the coupling member and to sustain it against diametrically opposite points of the central 7 opening 6 and receive laterally projecting lugs 24 carried by the coupling at diametrically opposite points.
To support a horizontally disposed flush valve handle receiving tube 25 which passes transversely through the wall above the wall plate, an angularly disposed rod 26 is threadedly engaged with the wall plate, as at 27 and carries a collar 28 at its upper end which receives the projecting end of the tube, the
collar carrying aset screw 29 for engagement with the tube. In order to detachably connect the collar with the rod an interiorly threaded socket 30 is formed on the collar and is threadedly engaged with the upper end of the head.
It will be observed that with my invention the toilet fixture may be expeditiously installed and that the wall plate will be effectively supported in position. Also the flush valve handle receiving tube will be efiectively supported in place by the collar 28 carried by the angularly disposed rod.
What is claimed is 1. In a toilet fixture mounting, a vertically disposed wall plate having a central opening, a pipe coupling passing transversely therethrough for connection with a toilet fixture and waste pipe respectively, a nut threadedly engaged with the outer end of the coupling and engaging the wall plate to clamp the same in position, fastenings for connecting the wall plate and the base of a toilet fixture, and lugs projecting from the coupling and engaged with the wall plate to hold the latter 4 against rotation relative to the coupling.
2. In combination a vertically disposed wall plate having a central opening, a pipe coupling passing through the opening and having a shoulder flush with one face of the wall plate, a clamping nut threaded on one end of the coupling and abutting the shoulder and wall plate to retain the latter in a vertical plane, and fastening elements associated with the wall plate and projecting laterally therethrough to be connected with the base of a toilet fixture.
3. In combination a vertically disposed wall plate having a central opening, a pipe coupling passing through the opening and end of the coupling and abutting the shoulder and wall plate to retain the latter in a vertical plane, fastening elements associated with the wall plate and projectin laterally therethrough to be connected wit the base of a toilet fixture, a rod detachably connected with the wall plate, andv a collar detachably mounted on the rod andadapted to receive and support the projecting end of a tube located above the wall plate. 7
4:. In a toilet fixture mounting, a wall plate to be positioned against or in a building wall,
7 a coupling passing transversely therethrough for connection with a Waste pipe and toilet fixture respectively, fastenings for connecting the wall plate and base of the toilet fix- .ture, a rod extending vertically from the wall plate, and a collar carried thereby for the reception of a flush valve handle receiving tube disposed above the wall plate.
Signed at Blauvelt in the county of Rockland and State of New York this 7th day of April, A. D. 1928.
