[Class 93] [Also in Group VIII] In the coating of objects, particularly of metal, with polymerisates of vinyl compounds, especially vinyl chloride, a layer of lacquer comprising a polyvinyl compound is first applied to the surface of the object, which is then heated to the temperature at which the lacquer flows, and on to the still plastic layer of lacquer a covering sheet of polyvinyl compound is pressed. The surface of the metal object is first roughened by means of a sand-blast, an etching-liquor, &c. and there may be applied three coatings of a ten per cent. solution of after-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride in methylene chloride. The coating is made plastic by heat, and a sheet of polyvinyl chloride, which has been previously painted with a twenty per cent. solution of polyvinyl chloride in acetone and dried, is pressed against the lacquered object.
