Abstract

Bohmite layers are formed on aluminium by treatment with aqueous solutions containing 0.1 to 10% by weight of triethanolamine or 0.5 to 15% by weight of hexamethylene tetramine at temperatures between 70 and 100 DEG C.ALSO:A process for the production of a thermoplast coated aluminium comprises providing the surface of the aluminium with a Bohmite layer at least 0.2m thick and applying the thermoplast thereto as a molten film. Specified thermoplasts are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamides, polyesters and polyvinyl fluoride.
