Abstract
511,283. Scaffolding; props. MILLS SCAFFOLD CO., Ltd., and CASWELL, G. F. C. Jan. 12, 1938, No. 1079. [Class 20 (ii)] A bearing plate for use with tubular scaffolding comprises a plate pivoted to a pin which can be inserted in the end of a tube, the pivoted bolt being relieved of stress by providing co-acting bearing surfaces on the plate and the pin. The bearing plate 1 which carries a wooden bearer 2 is provided with depending lugs 4, between which is pivotally secured a bifurcated end 5 of a pin 5a, which can be inserted in the end of a scaffold tube. The pin is provided with a shoulder 9 which bears against the end of the tube and also against the edges of the. lugs 4, these lugs at the bifurcated end 5 of the pin being slotted to allow this, whereby the pivotal bolt is relieved of stress of bearing. In a modification the plate is provided with a single lug which is secured between the slotted bifurcations of the pin, the upper edges of which contact with the under surface of the plate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 4271/03, [Class 20], 269,914, [Class 20 (ii)], 357,673, and 459,576.
