Abstract
495,920. Pit-props. MAYER, A., and SAAR - METALLWERKE AKT. - GES. Jan. 12, 1938, No. 1084. [Class 20 (ii)] A pit-prop comprises a prop s resting on debris f contained within a ring r, the prop having a plate t or a metal socket at its lower end which is a loose fit in the ring. The ring is formed with upwardly diverging walls, so that it may be slid upwardly along the prop to expose the compressed debris, which is then removed to release the prop. The ring may be formed integrally, or in two hinged portions with slotted ears to receive a clamping bolt.
