Abstract

511,281. Colour photography. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Jan. 12, 1938, No. 1022. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1937. [Class 98 (ii)] A subtractive multi-colour silver-free transparency in multi-layer photographic material comprises behind the last component layer in the direction of view a light scattering layer integral with the photographic material. The support can be made semi-opaque with for example a matting agent or a turbid layer can be arranged between the' support and the first component layer. Where the emulsion layers are on both sides of the support a turbid back layer may be used. The light scattering material may be colour tinted. The light scattering layer may also serve 'as a non-curling layer, or as a light-sensitive layer for a black-and-white picture as described in Specification 492,648. The light-sensitive layer may, however, be provided as a separate layer in addition to the light scattering layer. Light scattering materials referred to are insoluble oxides, phosphates, sulphates, and silicates, including aluminium oxide, titanium oxide, barium sulphate, or calcium sulphate. Part of the colloid forming the support may be precipitated during manufacture to produce a light scattering layer. The multi-colour transparency may be produced by colour development or the silver dyestuff bleaching-out process.
