Abstract
511,164. Magnetic sound-records; depositing substances by electric discharge. PFLEUMER, F., and HAFNER, T., Oct. 28, 1937, No. 29450. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1936. [Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] A magnetic sound-record carrier is made by depositing a thin layer of magnetizable material by the cathode evaporation process on a non- magnetizable foundation layer having a smooth surface. The thickness of the deposited layer may be 0.1 y. The material deposited may be iron together with about 1 to 6 per cent. of carbon to improve annealing. The foundation may be paper, or a filament formed by drawing or spraying, or a disc.
