Abstract
509,975. Gyratory crushers. KENNEDY J. E. Nov. 4, 1938, No. 32016. [Class 59] In a gyratory crusher the annular concave 14 is provided on the external periphery with outwardly diverging faces 15, 17 adapted to engage corresponding faces in the upper and lower parts of separable frame members 11, 4. The inner face of the concave is provided with a central parallel portion 20 and divergent end portions 18, 19. The concave may be formed by a number of sections 63, Fig. 2, having the same cross-section as the concave 14, and welded together at the inner edges at 66 to form a continuous ring, the concave being engaged by the frame by soft metal poured into the interstices. The frame parts 11, 4 engage by a spigot and socket joint 10 and are drawn together by bolts 13. The gyratory head 21 is supported by an adjustable bridge 33 which is supported on springs 32 bearing on a plate 31 in contact with a tiltable sleeve 28. The lower part 22<1> of the gyratory shaft is supported in a rockable bearing 23 mounted in a rotatable eccentric bearing 25. The crushing head 21 may be constructed of manganese steel and arranged with inclined crushing faces 45, 46 or the crushing face may be formed on a mantle 36<1> bedded on the shaft bv soft metal 37 and prevented from rotation thereon by a split ring 40 and externally screwed ring 39 between a ring 41 on the shaft and the top of the mantle, the ring 40 being secured to the shaft by a dowel pin and a key 42 which also passes through screwed ring 39. A nut 43 is held stationary and the ring 39 screwed into it so that lugs 44 on the nut enter recesses in the mantle. If the mantle rotates on the head the nut 43 turns with it and screws the ring against the mantle to tighten it on the head. A cylindrical member 48 engages the nut 43 and forms a reservoir for any oil which leaks from the bearing 29. A perforated circular water supply pipe 49 may be used to project water into the crushing gap. The eccentric bearing is protected from. dust &c. by an annular disc 53 slidably engaged in a circular housing 54 attached to the head 21 and slidably bearing on the edge 7<1> of an opening in the frame 4. Two other slidable members 57, 60 with interposed packing 58 surround the shaft 22, the member 57 forming a closure member for the opening in the eccentric-bearing casting 26.
