[Class 59] In a crusher comprising a horizontally disposed reciprocating or oscillating crushing drum and one or more jaws each of which is arranged adjacent to one side of the drum so as to form a crushing zone between the adjacent faces of each jaw and the drum, the lower end of the working face of each jaw terminates approximately in horizontal alignment with the main axis of drum. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the eccentrically mounted roller comprises a rim 26 wedged onto a conical seating 28 on a hub 27 by conical wedge 29, the wedge being tightened by bolts 33 which are relieved of shear stress by wedge-shaped serrations 36 on the wedge engaging in correspondingly shaped recesses 37 in the hub. The hub is mounted on roller bearings 23 on the eccentric portion 17 of the shaft 9 which is recessed at 18 to provide flexibility thereof. The ends of the shaft 9 are mounted in roller bearings 8 carried in flanged housings bolted over recesses in the side plates through which the shaft 9 may be withdrawn. The stationary jaws 41 are held by a bolt 56 against a pivot 49 at one end and against a breakable toggle 51 at the other, the toggle being adjustable by shims 54. The jaw 41 may be provided with a renewable face and a downwardly projecting lug to which a bolt is attached, the other end of the bolt bearing against the casing through spring washers. The sides of the roller are protected by side plates 63 adjustable by means of horseshoe shims 67 and inwardly directed plates 74 divert the material to be crushed toward the centre of the roller. The bearings are protected by dust-excluding washers.
