[Class 38 (iv)] Tension in a web being wound on a roll 2 is main tained constant by floating roll 11 which selectively causes closing o contacts 8, 9 in series with alternative fields of e reversible electric motor 7. The motor drives a disc 6 threaded on a screwed shaft whereby the pressure applied by a spring 5 to a slipping coupling 3 is varied. The coupling 3 is inserted in the drive of the roll 2.
