Abstract
913,014. Automatic speed-control systems. VOCKENHUBER, K., and HAUSER, C. Aug. 10, 1959 [Aug. 12, 1958], No. 27225/59. Class 38 (4). When a sound tape 11 is fed in the direction of an arrow 24, a loop 25 increases in size and a lever 9 moves downwardly under the influence of a spring 22 so that a wiper 6 engages a resistor 5 for energizing a film projector motor 1 through its field winding 3. The motor drives a roller 16 in the anti-clockwise direction, thereby decreasing the length of the loop until a balanced position is reached. If the sound tape is fed in the direction of arrow 26, the length of the loop is reduced whereby resistor 4 is connected in circuit with the motor 1 which operates in the reverse direction. Stoppage of the sound tape apparatus causes the wiper 6 to move to its neutral position to disconnect the motor 1, the wiper being carried by inertia into engagement with the resistor 5 for producing a counter torque. The sound tape is pressed on to the roller 16 by roll 17 mounted on lever 18 coacting with pins 45, 46, in slidable plate 19. A pin 20 in the lever 9 moves into a guide in the slidable plate for bringing the lever to its central position. In another arrangement the wiper 6 is actuated by differential gearing having elements respectively connected to the film drive and to the sound tape, Fig. 2 (not shown). In other arrangements the projector motor has a single-field winding only, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown).
