Abstract

507,941. Vented closures. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd., and GATES, G. R. G. Feb. 7, 1938, No. 3855. [Class 125 (iii)] In a vented closure device for a liquid container-comprising a cap or stopper having a chamber containing pervious material, the chamber has rigid walls and the upper and lower walls are perforated to permit the passage of air through the chamber. In one form the closure comprises a cap 10, Fig. 1, screwthreaded at 11 and having a central upward bulge 13 apertured at 14, steel wool 15 being enclosed therein by a disc 16 apertured at 17 and secured to the inner surface of the cap. In a modification, a hollow plug 18, Fig. 2, having a hexagon head 21 is threaded at 19 and formed with an upper chamber 22 having a lateral passage 23 to the atmosphere, and a larger lower chamber 24 wherein steel wool 28 is packed between discs 26, 29 respectively apertured at 27, 30.
