654,541. Stoppers ; vent pegs. CANTRILL, J. R. July 13, 1948, No. 18761. [Classes 21 and 125(iii)] A cork stopper 10 has a through opening 14, 15 plugged with a member 16 of a material, e.g. beech wood, which permits the venting of excess gas pressure but prevents the escape of liquid. The opening 14, 15 is shouldered at 13 to form an abutment for the plug. In a modification, the opening is of uniform diameter throughout, and the upper end of the stopper is covered by a perforated metal cap having flanges which are turned in to engage the sides of the stopper. The cap may be omitted.
