[Class 45] A sliding gate, e.g. for lifts, comprises a plurality of openwork panels with laterally extending apertured lugs h threaded on rods j suspended from a rail b by hangers d and pulleys c, the lower ends of the rods working in a guide channel e, and collars n, o fast on the rods restricting movement of the lugs h longitudinally of the rods. The rail b and channel e extend across the greater part of the width of the gateway, and continue in a path at rightangles thereto so that the gate as a whole may be moved from a " closed " position across the gateway to an " open " position alongside a wall at right angles to the gateway. The panels consist of frames f of angle iron across which expanded metal g is stretched.
