[Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group VI] Linear dimensions.- Variations in thickness of a tobacco rod carried by a belt 16 move a spring-pressed roller 10 mounted on a lever 11 and carrying a contact 8 to engage one or other of two adjustably mounted contacts 9, 9<1> and energize relays to increase or decrease the tobacco feed to the rod forming mechanism. The roller 10 is rotated by a gear-wheel 19. The relays may simultaneously reject the defective cigarettes cut from the rod.
