505,930. Automatic control systems. CLEVELAND, F. J. (Skoda Works, Plzen) Jan. 7, 1938, No. 574. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 8, 1938.] [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group VI] Cigarette rods are tested for variations in density by a pair of pivoted spring-pressed feelers 5 between which the rod is moved. Movement of the feelers causes contacts 8 to engage a contact 9 or contacts 9<1> to energize relays I, II which control the tobacco feed to the cigarette-making machine and the rotation of a disc having a spiral surface which rejects defective cigarettes cut from the rod. U.S.A. Specification 1,864,728 and German Specification 581,773 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes a machine in which variations in density of an unwrapped tobacco rod move a positively rotated roller 10, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), mounted on a pivoted lever 11 to close electric contacts 9, 9<1> which through relays control the tobacco feed and means for rejecting defective cigarettes. This subject. matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
