[Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] Relates to inversion modulators in which the carrier frequency affects only slightly the transfer of energy from input to output terminals, and in which the input voltages depend on the output currents and voltages and the output currents at the same time depend on the input currents and voltages ; or alternatively in which the output voltages depend on the input currents and voltages while the input currents depend on the output currents and voltages; or in which both alternatives are simultaneously present. In order to reduce the losses due to undesired frequencies produced in the modulator, the filters on the modulation input and output terminals are so designed that a low impedance to undesired frequencies is connected at those terminals where the currents are dependent on the current and voltage at other terminals, while high impedances to the undesired frequencies are connected at the other terminals. Calculations and an example of a modulator in accordance with the invention are given in the Specification.
