Abstract

506,283. Agglomerating fuel. NAAMI,OOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PERSBRANDSTOFSYNDICAAT PERSYN, and HAZELZET, L. J. J. Nov..24, 1937, No. 32423 [Class 50] Finely divided material, such as anthracite, charcoal, coke dust or brown coal, is mixed with an amylaceous binder and water, kneaded and heated to cook the binder and convert it into a gelatinous paste, the mass then being transferred to another chamber and suddenly subjected to a higher temperature after which it 'is briquetted. The apparatus comprises a rotary drying drum 3, a mill 11, a disintegrator 19 fed with the material from a hopper 13 and with binder from a hopper 21, a conveyer 24, a kneading chamber 25 into which steam is injected through nozzles 31, and a heating chamber 34 with a jacket 38 supplied with superheated steam or hot gases at a temperature up to 500‹ C. The jacket may be apertured so as to allow steam to enter the mass which is finally passed to the hopper 44 of a roller press.
