Abstract

506,156. Button-delivery mechanism. MELZER, E., and SIEGMUND, H. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37525. [Class 43] Apparatus for delivering buttons to a sewing-machine comprises a hopper from which the buttons are fed singly on to a plate and feeler mechanism whereby a button the wrong way up is pushed in one direction while a correctly placed button is pushed into tongs and thence to the machine. The buttom are moved by one or other of two pushers 15, 15a, Fig. 3, which are operated by springs 19, Fig. 2, unless prevented by a stop 10 engaging a member 14 depending from the pusher rod 16 and operated by a feeler 11. As shown in Fig. 2, an incorrectly placed button prevents the operation of the pusher 15, but the stop 10a of the pusher 15a then coincides with a hole in the corresponding depending member 14a and permits the pusher 15a to remove the button. The stop 10 and feeler are pivotally connected by a spring 33 whereby the feeler can be removed by a cam 29, after engagement with the depending member 14, to allow the button to be removed without fouling.
