[Class 51 (i)] In,a furnace wall of the type composed of water tubes, metal blocks covering the sides of the tubes facing the furnace and clamps disposed externally of the wall adapted to be drawn towards the blocks by bolts and nuts in order to press the blocks and tubes into contact, the clamps 3 and blocks 1 of adjacent rows are disposed in staggered relation and provide metal surfaces covering both sides of the wall, the clamps 3 are formed with ribs 4 spaced apart a distance greater than the distance between the centres of the tubes and the space between the blocks and clamps is filled with fireproof material 6. Flanges 7 on the clamps provide recesses to receive heat insulating material.
