Abstract

[Class 99 (i)] A fitting for connecting pipes to mains or other curved plates comprises an internally flared liner c which is expanded within the hole in the main by drawing outwardly a ferrule f having a tapered end f<1>, the shape of the end being that of a cone-frustum axially deformed to bring its larger end to the, curvature of - the main interior. The ferrule is drawn out by screwing on to it a union e which bears on a saddle portion d of the liner. The inner end of the nipple and its junction with the saddle are curved to conform respectively with the sinuous inner and outer edges of the hole.
